Fact #1: I don’t like surprises, and Earth specializes in them

I arrived on Earth in the 1960s without any warning or preparation, and I’ve been catching up ever since. Things happen quickly here. Loudly. Plans change without notice. People say “it’ll be fine” and then immediately make it worse.

I function better when I know what’s coming. I like schedules. I like quiet expectations. When something unexpected happens, I don’t panic — I just get tired. If I seem calm, it’s not because I’m enjoying myself. It’s because reacting would require more effort than I have at the moment.

Fact #2: I need space, and I take it seriously

I need time alone. More than most people. Space to think, space to sit, space where no one is asking me questions or touching me for reassurance. Silence helps. Stillness helps. Being left alone helps the most.

My shell is not a decoration. It is part of me. Touching it without asking isn’t comforting — it’s invasive. I won’t make a scene about it, but I will remember it. I remember most things. That’s not a threat. It’s just how I’m built.

Fact #3: I move slowly on purpose

I take my time because rushing rarely makes things better. I listen because most conversations resolve themselves if you wait long enough. This has led some people to assume I’m disengaged or uninterested.

I am not. I am paying attention. I am thinking things through. I am deciding whether getting involved is worth the cost. When I finally act, it’s usually because ignoring the situation has become more exhausting than dealing with it.
